Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922) is a foundational German Expressionist silent horror film directed by F.W. Murnau. It serves as an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, featuring Max Schreck as the iconic, rat-like vampire Count Orlok who brings plague to a German town.
Real estate agent Thomas Hutter travels to Transylvania to sell a house to Count Orlok, unaware he is a vampire. Orlok becomes obsessed with Hutter's wife, Ellen, and brings a plague, carried by rats, to her town of Wisborg.
